Good afternoon Dogwood families,
This week Dogwood and Cedar continued to learn about harvest time. The children read Harvest Time, This Pumpkin, I Love Fall, and An Owl. The children sang “Five Little Pumpkins,” “I’ve been working on the Railroad,” and “Scarecrow, Scarecrow Turn Around.” During art the children used bingo dabbers, painted gourds, and made hand-prints.
The children worked on their large motor skills when rolling balls, galloping, walking on heels and tip toes, and practicing star jumps. In P.E. with Ms. Kira the children walked on lily pads and threw bean bags.
Practical life skills were used when the children practiced putting on their hats, rolling up their sleeves, working with shape sorters, and stringing large beads. The children have also been practicing the “Jacket Flip Trick”, which is a way for the children to put their jackets on independently. First lay the jacket down on the floor, then make sure your toes are at the tag or top of the jacket, then put your arms in the arm holes, and finally flip the jacket over your head!
The children explored with snakes and bugs in the sensory table. They also explored leaves, play dough, and ribbons in the sensory table.
During music with Ms. Kathleen the children played jingle bells. The children followed Ms. Kathleen as she led them in shaking, tapping, and rolling the bells. The children also danced with scarves and sang “How Much is that Doggie in the Window?”
Happy 2nd Birthday to Olivia! Have a great weekend!
