April 13

Good afternoon Garden and Mountain families,

This week our theme was farm animals.  The children sang “Old McDonald”, “Five Little Ducks”, and “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. During small circle the children read Farmyard Friends, Animal Hide and Seek, and One Sheep, Blue Sheep.

For large motor activities this week, the children stacked large block towers and knocked them down. Several children also pushed wagons outside on the playground.

For art this week the children used rollers and sponges to create a barn yard mural. The children used blue, green and brown paint for their mural. For art this week the children used roller brushes with brown, green and blue paint to create a barnyard mural. The children also used paint markers to make dots on cow cut-outs.

During music class with Ms. Kathleen this week the children explored with rhythm sticks. The children also took turns singing “ba ba” into a microphone, listened to animal sounds and danced with scarves.

Recently several of our infants have learned the word “no”. Defiance is a normal and common behavior seen in young children. Here is an article from the Zero to Three organization that has suggestions on how to respond to defiant behavior and support your child’s emerging independence:

We celebrated two birthdays this week! Happy first birthday to Otto and Lincoln! We also welcomed a new child to our classroom, Jade!

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Stephanie, Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Lisa and Ms. Aubrieana
