Hello Aspen families, we made it to the summer!

This week the children finally got a chance to plant the Aspen playground rainbow garden and are continuing to care for it. In big circle we have read The Vegetables We Eat, Good People Everywhere, Hey Diddle Diddle, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and Billy the Goat’s Big Breakfast. The children talked about what tools they would need to garden as well as how to care for a garden, and on Tuesday they each took turns helping to plant. We also talked about bugs in the garden and why they are important, including a small group sorting, counting and identifying a variety of bugs. The kids also worked on art this week, doing projects including spray bottle water colors and making flowers and other creations with tissue paper and bingo dabbers. On Friday the children were able to spend some time playing on the Evergreen playground. New works out this week include washing fruits in the water table, yellow paint at the easel and threading the food chain.

In Spanish this week the children worked on saying their names and learning to name farm animals. They also continued to practice recognizing their vowels and counting in spanish.

Music this week included shaker eggs, farm animal sounds and trying different parts of their voice such as soft and loud, high and low. Ms. Kathleen also brought the book Driving My Tractor which the kids sing along to and Tiny Tim the turtle, who they have been singing about all week.

Please bring home your child’s winter clothes and boots, it is time to make room for summer supplies!

Have a wonderful long weekend,

Ms. Kate and Ms. Megan
