Good afternoon Birch families,
This week in Birch, the class focused their attention on all things winter! The class explored with snow in the sensory table, created a large snowman and learned some snow themed songs (“I’m a little snowman” and “Snowflake, snowflake”).
Practical life skills continued to grow by scooping snow, transferring water with small pitchers and eye droppers, sweeping the wood chips off the walk way and putting on snow boots and jackets in the dramatic play area.
During music with Ms. Kathleen, the class sang along to “Frosty the snowman”, danced with scarves, created music with jingle bells and shaker eggs and sang along to “Old Macdonald”.
The children continued to develop their large motor skills by jumping with both feet off the wooden beams, walking across stepping stones, kicking a ball around small cones and crawling through the rainbow tunnel.
During P.E. with Ms. Kira, the Birch class practiced walking on tip-toes and galloping like horses, imitated animal actions and worked on their balance by walking across a rope.
Next week, we will be turning our attention to Holidays around the World!
Have a warm weekend!
Ms. Nicole and Ms. Itzel
