March 30

Hello Cedar families,

This week in the Cedar and Dogwood classes, we talked about spring and all the changes it brings, such as flowers and warmer weather (which we didn’t see much of this week!). We talked about what we need to wear outside now that the weather is changing, like trading our winter hats for sun hats, and our big puffy winter coats for lighter jackets and sweatshirts. We made a snowman and watched it melt away as the weather changed from cold to hot. The children practiced hopping like bunnies, kicking balls and walking on the balance beam. In our small group lessons, the children learned about making applesauce, looked at photos of trees in bloom, and sang “The Ants Go Marching”.

In our morning circle this week we read: The Bear Went Over the Mountain, Go Away Big Green Monster, Too Many Tomatoes, Take a Deep Breath, and Little Dinos Don’t Push. The children continued building their practical life skills by stacking cups, using the spray bottles to clean the tables, putting on their hats and stringing large beads. This week in art, the kids colored with sidewalk chalk and painted a spring mural. They explored with Play-Doh and bubbles as well this week.

In music, Ms. Kathleen brought a new book called Driving my Tractor for us to sing and dance along to.  She also brought shaker eggs for the kids to play along to music, which is always very popular.  When Ms. Kathleen wasn’t here, the kids kept our classrooms full of music with songs like “Come on Everybody” and “Head Shoulders Knees and Toes”.

We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Patrick in Cedar!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Ms. Jessica, Ms. Brooke, Ms. Delanie, Ms. Delani, and Ms. Karen
