Hello Garden and Mountain Families.
This week, in celebration of Earth Day tomorrow, we focused on a theme of ‘The Earth.’ We looked at pictures of the Earth and different places on it: deserts, forests, oceans, mountains, etc. We spent a lot of time outside exploring the grass, leaves on the trees, digging in sand, and exploring dandelions. On Thursday morning, the children went on a “nature walk” buggy ride, and saw all the blooming trees and neighbor’s flowers. Springtime is so beautiful.
We also talked a bit about trash and recycling. The children watched the trash truck (as usual- it’s very exciting), helped sort different types of recycling, and picked up “trash” off the playground. They love to be helpers in this way.
In music class, Ms. Kathleen had a lot of fun activities for the children. They played a few different types of drums and shook eggs in time to music. Quite a few of the older children were keeping the beat as they played the instruments. She also brought a “hey diddle-diddle” finger puppet that the children enjoyed. Outside of music class, we sang “We’ve got the Whole World in our Hands,” “Mr. Sun,” and “Over in the Meadow.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
