Hello Forest Families!
This week in Forest, children developed their play in the community themed centers. We read about and discussed the many ways emergency responders help our community. Children especially enjoyed learning about the many vehicles used by emergency responders: ambulances, water trucks, ladder trucks, helicopters, boats, and even motorcycles! Children took their play further this week by communicating between centers! We had firefighters telling police officers where they were needed, and medical workers following firefighters to emergencies to help! Children even took their play outside and continued during their recess time.
In literacy this week, children worked on rhyming and taking apart sounds in words. We are learning how to listen for beginning, ending, and middle sounds in one syllable words. After identifying each sound, we play word games to change word one letter at a time! Children really enjoyed the rhyming books we read as well!
In math and science, children worked on spatial awareness and shape recognition through collage art. Children decided on pictures they wanted to make and used many shapes to create their scenes.
Next week we will wrap up our community play and begin plans for a new theme!
Enjoy the warmer weather and have a great weekend!
