Hello Forest Families!
This week in Forest, children added props and scenarios to every community play center. Children practiced taking their own fingerprints and examining them over light in the Police Station. In the Library, children worked on writing books and designing book covers. In the Fire Station, children traveled to other centers to take care of “emergencies’ all over the classroom.
In Math this week, Forest children worked with partners to play “I Have Who Has” with numbers and shapes. They practiced checking each other’s work as they played. Children also worked in small groups with teachers to practice “less than” and “more than” by rolling dice.
In Literacy, children listened to read-alouds about insects and worked on recalling new facts through drawing and scaffolded writing. Children also practiced their letter and number formation by writing to music.
Next week we will wrap up our play theme of community helpers and begin coming up with ideas for the new theme!
Have a great weekend!
The Forest Teachers,
Ms. Amanda, Ms. Kristine, Ms. Jess, Ms. Freya, and Ms. Suzanne
