December 2

Good afternoon Dogwood families,

This week we learned about winter!  The children learned the signs for “snow” and “cold” as well as learned the words in Spanish.  The children sang “If all of the Snowflakes . . .,” “Frosty, the Snowman,” and “Jingle Bells.”  The children read The Three Little Kittens, See the Snow, It is Winter, and What is Cold?

The children worked on their large motor skills when they ran fast across the playground, kicked balls and cones, and practiced bowling.  During P.E. with Ms. Kira the children practiced throwing bean bags.  The children also did a bean bag dance where they were instructed to place the bean bag on different body parts.

Practical life skills were used when children used tweezers to pick up small objects, such as small pieces of tissue paper.  The children also practiced flipping their jackets, taking their shoes off, and stringing large beads.

During art, the children used water colors on coffee filters to make snowflakes.  The children used cold colors (blue, purple, and silver) to make a class mural with paint brushes and rollers.  The children also finger painted.

The children explored with colored water, play dough, and tissue paper in the sensory table.

During music with Ms. Kathleen the children read/sang Frosty, the Snowman, listened to owl sounds, and played bells while singing “Jingle Bells.”  The children also danced with scarves to Raffi.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Amy, Ms. Brittiney, Ms. Karen, Ms. Delanie, and Ms. Stevie
